If Paul VI is a saint, then the whole concept of holiness is a sham. He nearly caused the descruction of the Roman Rite. The Traditional Mass would have completely dissappeared if it was up to him. He oversaw the introduction of the Novus Ordo with all its problematic deficiencies. The saint-making process is becoming a joke.

Aloysius Gonzaga, I think you will be surprised by the people you meet when you get to heaven. I know some heavy sinners who made it into heaven at the last second by the MERCY of God.

But Pope Paul VI deserves to be canonized for Humanae Vitae alone. It was a prophetic document that if followed would have stopped the destruction of the one-child policy in China, the high divorce rate in the West, same sex marriage (consequence of wide use of contraception), millions of abortions, and the utter destruction of the human family. A man who could write that document when his so-called Catholic advisory committee advised him to accept contraception has got to be a saint. Think of the persecution he suffered afterwards! Blessed are the Persecuted! Rejoice and be glad for your reward in heaven will be great!

This blog rightly reveres the work of Monseignor Vincent Foy, who defended the teachings of Humanae Vitae against the whole conference of Canadian bishops. I'm sure he will be canonized some day as well :) … but this is a little early to announce it. But if we respect Msgr. Foy, why not Pope Paul VI?

I'm not happy about the translation of the Mass I lived under most of my life either, especially when I find out what the real translation is from Latin. But there were a bunch of people that said Pope John Paul II should not had been canonized because of the sex abuse scandal in the Church. Popes can live heroic virtue while things go haywire in the Church. We'll figure it all out when we get to the New Jerusalem, coming as a Bride from heaven. I'd be happy to discuss it with you then.

In the meantime, I hope the nit pickers aren't present at YOUR judgment, nor mine. Heaven help us. God bless you. Susan Fox www.christsfaithfulwitness.com

The canonization process is about determining who God likes, not who you like. Holiness is about conforming yourself to God's image, not trying to make Him over into your own. To infer that the entire process is a human endeavor subject to merely social and political considerations is to fall into the same trap the main stream media continually finds itself. We begin from a place they cannot understand... Christ crucified and risen from the dead.
